Airsoft games with a helicopter: from the Civil Aviation Bureau's permission to what comes next
Airsoft is a game where players shoot at each other with air guns. Imagine a real helicopter flying onto the field. We take this kind of fun seriously, too.
In 2021, we received the necessary permission from the Civil Aviation Bureau as a "shooting competition" and held a trial airsoft game with a helicopter. We planned another this year, but it was cancelled for unavoidable reasons. We plan to hold it again next year. We also accept requests to do it as an event.
What a helicopter changes
Airsoft is played on the ground. Add a helicopter, and you gain eyes and movement from the air. You can experience scenes you have only seen in films and videos, in your own game.
Permission from the Civil Aviation Bureau
A helicopter cannot fly outside the rules. To use one in a game, you need government permission to fly lower than usual and to drop objects from it. In 2021, we applied for this as a "shooting competition" and received permission for dropping objects and for low-altitude flight.
After receiving permission, we held a shooting competition event with air guns together with an airsoft field. The people who took part loved it.
This year and next
We planned to hold it again this year, but cancelled it because of this year's (2026) earthquake in Kumamoto. We plan to hold it again next year.
Available as an event
If you run an airsoft field or organise events and would like to use a helicopter, we are happy to help. What we can do depends on the size of the site and its surroundings. Please get in touch first.
Of course, safety comes first. The captain decides whether the helicopter flies, after checking the weather and conditions on site.
